In a bid to resolve the issue of waterlogging in Dhokka Mohalla, Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Prashar Pappi alongwith Municipal Corporation (MC) officials and IIT Roorkee experts visited Dhokka Mohalla on Saturday and deliberated upon different steps which can be taken to stop waterlogging in the area.
The aim was to study the site and chalk out plans to stop the backflow of Buddha from affecting the nearby low lying areas including Dhokka Mohalla, Dharampura etc during monsoon season.
The team of IIT Roorkee experts was led by Senior hydrology and water management expert Prof Dr Z Ahmad. MC Additional Commissioner Aaditya Dachalwal among other senior officials of the civic body were also present during the inspection.
MLA Prashar and MC Commissioner Dr Shena Aggarwal stated that experts from IIT Roorkee have been roped in to find a solution for the problem which has been causing inconvenience to the residents living in Dhokka Mohalla, Dharampura and other nearby low lying areas alongside buddha nullah.
MLA Prashar and Dr Aggarwal stated that steps are being taken to find a concrete solution for the problem with an aim to provide a major relief to the residents from waterlogging during the monsoon season.
MLA Prashar stated that they are working on different proposals to resolve the issue. Steps would be taken to stop the backflow of buddha nullah and avoid waterlogging in nearby areas even if the water level of buddha nullah rises during monsoon season in future. The authorities have been directed to start the work at ground level as soon as possible.
MC senior officials including Superintending Engineer Ravinder (SE) Garg, SE Praveen Singla, Executive engineers Arvind, Ranbir Singh among others were also present during the site inspection.
